Crispy bits of bacon, sweet tomatoes and crunchy oven baked croutons tossed in a creamy salad dressing. A BLT in a bowl!

  • 1  (300 g) Dempsters® Ovenfresh Baguette, cut into 1 inch (2.5 cm) cubes
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) Olive oil
  •  Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) Mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) Sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Milk
  •  Freshly ground pepper
  •  SALAD:
  • 1  Head green leaf lettuce, torn
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Grape tomatoes, halved
  • 8  Slices Natural Selections® Bacon, chopped and cooked crisp


CROUTONS:PREHEAT oven to 375˚F (190˚C). Place cubes of bread in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and toss to coat. Spread onto a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.  DRESSING:WHISK together all ingredients in a small bowl and chill. SALAD:ASSEMBLE salad by tossing lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and croutons together. Drizzle with salad dressing, toss gently and serve.
