  • 1 Pkg Schneiders® Country Naturals® Mild Tuscan Countryside Sausage, casings removed
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1  Egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) Olive oil
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Ready prepared pasta sauce
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 4  Dempster’s® Deluxe Sausage Buns, lightly toasted

MIX together sausage meat, Parmesan cheese, egg and bread crumbs in a large bowl. Form mixture into 12 meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.  HEAT olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown on all sides and the internal temperature has reached 160°F (71°C). Pour pasta sauce into the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes.  PREHEAT broiler to high.  SPLIT buns open and place on a baking sheet. Arrange 3 meatballs on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with a generous spoonful of pasta sauce and ½ cup grated Mozzarella. Broil under preheated broiler until cheese is melted and bubbly. Top with remaining buns and serve immediately.
