Strawberry jam is sandwiched between two slices of Dempster’s® White Bread and cut into rectangles before they are crimped to seal. Brush with some melted butter and a sprinkle of sugar and bake until golden.

  • 8 slices Dempster’s® White Bread, crusts removed
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) strawberry jam
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) butter, melted
  • 4 tsp (20 mL) granulated sugar


Preheat oven to 375˚F (190˚C).
Spread jam over 4 slices of bread, leaving 1-inch (2.5 cm) border all around.
Wet border with water; top with another piece of bread.
Using fork, press and seal bread slices together, crimping edges.
Transfer tarts to parchment paper–lined baking sheet.
Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and toasted.
