Breakfast doesn't get better than Peanut Butter and Jam French Toast. Dempster’s® White Bread serves as the base for this delicious egg dish, and icing sugar and cinnamon add a sweet-spicy finish. Top the toast with fresh fruit and whip cream and make Brunch Ideas memorable. Serves four.
INGREDIENTS
- 8 Slices Dempster’s® White Bread
- 4 tbsp (60 mL) Peanut butter
- 4 tbsp (60 mL) Raspberry jam (or your favourite jam)
- 6 Eggs
- 2-3 tbsp (30-45 mL) Milk or cream
- Pinch cinnamon
- 2-3 tbsp (15-30 mL) Vegetable oil
- Icing sugar for dusting
DIRECTIONS
- SPREAD peanut butter and jam on each of four slices of bread. Top with remaining bread slices.
- WHISK the eggs, milk and cinnamon together in a shallow baking dish. HEAT oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into egg mixture, coating completely and place into the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- SERVE dusted with icing sugar.
Tip: Serve with fresh berries.
