Fully Loaded Pizza Burgers

Two of our all-time favourite foods come together in these Fully Loaded Pizza Burgers. Complete with all the fixings, these juicy burgers are served on tasty Dempster’s® Signature Classic Burger Buns. Top them with pepperoni, mushrooms and much more for an instant, crowd-pleasing dinner. Serves four.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Dempster’s® Signature Classic Burger Buns
  • 8 oz (250 g) lean ground beef
  • 8 oz (250 g) Italian sausages, casing removed
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (250 mL) sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) pizza sauce, heated
  • 1 oz (30 g) mini pepperoni slices
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix together ground beef and sausages. Divide into 4 portions; shape each portion into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick patty.
  2. Heat oil in large skillet set over medium heat; cook burgers, turning halfway through, for 5 to 7 minutes or until instant-read thermometer inserted into centre of burger reads 160°F (71°C). Top each burger with cheese slice. Cover and cook for 30 to 60 seconds or until cheese melts. Remove burgers from pan; keep warm.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high; cook mushrooms for 4 to 5 minutes or until slightly softened.
  4. Assemble burgers in buns with pizza sauce, mushrooms and pepperoni. Tip: Substitute sautéed onions and peppers for the mushrooms, or your favourite pizza toppings, as preferred.
