BBQ Chicken Fajita Burgers
Topped with sweet caramelized onions and roasted red peppers, these grilled zesty chicken burgers deliver tasty flavours that the whole family will love. Cut down on prep time with store-bought jarred roasted red peppers and garlic aioli sauce or mayonnaise spread.
INGREDIENTS4 Dempster’s® Signature Everything Buns, split 1 lb (500 g) lean ground chicken 1/4 cup (60 mL) bread crumbs 2 tbsp (30 mL) barbecue sauce 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 tbsp (15 mL) taco seasoning 2 cloves garlic, minced 4 slices aged white Cheddar 1/2 cup (125 mL) garlic aioli sauce or mayonnaise spread 1 cup (250 mL) packed mixed greens 1 cup (250 mL) thinly sliced red peppers 1/2 cup (125 mL) caramelized onions Lime wedges, for serving
- Preheat grill to medium-high; grease grate well. Mix together chicken, bread crumbs, barbecue sauce, egg, taco seasoning and garlic until combined. Divide into 4 portions. Shape each portion into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick patty.
- Grill burgers turning once, for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown and instant-read thermometer inserted into centre of burger reads 165°F (74°C).
- Top each burger with cheese slice; cook for about 1 minute or until cheese starts to melt. Meanwhile, grill buns for 30 to 60 seconds or until lightly toasted.
- Assemble burgers on buns with aioli sauce, greens, red peppers and caramelized onions. Serve with lime wedges.
