Celebrate the season with tasty Open-Faced Autumn Toast. Dempster’s® 100% Whole Wheat Bread is cut into a large leaf shape and topped with fall favourites like chocolate spread, dried fruit and nuts. This toast makes a fun and easy after-school snack or weekend treat. Serves one.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 slice Dempster's® 100% Whole Wheat Bread, toasted
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) chocolate spread
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) dried cranberries
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) pumpkin seeds
  • Pinch ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut bread into leaf shape using large leaf-shaped cookie cutter. Spread with chocolate spread; sprinkle with pecans, cranberries and pumpkin seeds.
  2. To serve, sprinkle with cinnamon.

Tip: Replace cranberries with raisins or dried cherries if desired.
