Strawberry Jam Tarts

These Strawberry Jam Tarts are a quick treat to make when you're craving something sweet. You just need a few slices of Dempster’s® White Bread and your favourite strawberry jam. This easy dessert recipe is fun for the kids to make too! Serves four.

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 slices Dempster's® White Bread, crusts removed
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) strawberry jam
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) butter, melted
  • 4 tsp (20 mL) granulated sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread jam over 4 slices of bread, leaving 1-inch (2.5 cm) border all around.
  3. Wet border with water; top with another piece of bread.
  4. Using a fork, press and seal bread slices together, crimping edges.
  5. Transfer tarts to parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and toasted.
