INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Dempster’s® Gold Hamburger Buns
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) mayo
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) white miso
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) ketchup
  • 2 lbs (900 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) salt and pepper
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 8 green leaf lettuce leaves
  • 2 beefsteak tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced into rounds

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together mayo, white miso and ketchup until smooth, set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef with salt and pepper, divide into 8 patties that are 5 inches wide and 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick.
  4. Once the grill is hot, place the burgers on the grill, close the lid, cook for 2 – 3 minutes, until lightly charred, flip and continue to cook for 2 – 3 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on each burger, close the lid and let it melt for 1 – 2 minutes.
  6. Transfer burgers to a platter.

Tip: Handle the ground beef as little as possible – the more you work the meat, the tougher it will become.
