This all-star beef burger knocks it out of the park with melted cheese, big-league toppings, and crunchy pretzel sticks. Served on Dempster’s® Original Hamburger Buns, it’s a home run for those post-practice meals or a backyard BBQ with friends and family.
INGREDIENTS
Burger:
- 4 Dempster’s® Original Hamburger Buns
- 1.5 lbs (680 g) ground beef
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) Beer-BBQ sauce (or your favourite BBQ sauce)
Toppings:
- 4 slices of smoked cheddar
- 4 leaves of green leafy lettuce (20-30 g)
- 1 jalapeño (15-20 g), thinly sliced
- 8 slices (120-160 g) cooked applewood smoked bacon
- 2 cups (200 g) pretzel sticks
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, season the ground beef lightly with salt and pepper. Divide into 8 equal balls.
- Heat a large cast-iron pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, add 2 balls at a time, cover with a square of parchment paper, then smash with a burger press or wide spatula until they are about 1/4 inch thick.
- Remove parchment, season with salt and pepper, and brush with BBQ sauce. Cook for 1 – 2 minutes, flip and then brush again with BBQ sauce, cook for another 1 – 2 minutes, then top with cheese.
- Transfer to a baking tray, cover to keep warm. Repeat with remaining patties.
- To assemble, place 1 leaf of lettuce on each bottom bun, then top with two smashed patties, jalapeno slices, bacon and a handful of pretzel sticks.
