Easy Eggnog French Toast

Our decadent Easy Eggnog French Toast topped with whipped cream brings a festive feel to any holiday meal. Perfect for breakfast or brunch, it's prepared with Dempster's® 100% Whole Grains Honey & Oatmeal Bread for a sweetly delicious dish that makes every occasion special. Serves four.

  • 8 slices Dempster's® 100% Whole Grains Honey & Oatmeal Bread
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) eggnog
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) rum
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground nutmeg (approx)
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) butter, divided
  • 1 cup (250 mL) 35% whipping cream
  • 1 cup (250 mL) maple syrup, for serving


  1. Whisk together eggs, eggnog, rum, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
  2. Heat 4 tsp (20 mL) butter in large skillet set over medium heat. One at a time, dip bread slices in eggnog mixture until bread absorbs the mixture but is not soggy. Cook in 4 batches for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until golden brown on both sides, wiping pan clean with paper towel and adding more butter as needed. Keep warm in low oven.
  3. Meanwhile, whip cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Serve French toast with dollop of whipped cream and drizzle of maple syrup. Garnish with pinch of nutmeg.

Tip: Substitute brandy for rum, or omit rum and use 1 tsp (5 mL) rum extract.
