This Easy Chicken and Waffles Toast recipe delivers all the rich flavours of the Southern Brunch Ideas dish in a fraction of the time. Dempster’s® White Bread takes the place of waffle batter and frozen chicken fingers substitute for fried chicken, so this classic comfort food can be easily made and enjoyed any day of the week. Serves four.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 slices Dempster's® White Bread
- 12 frozen prepared chicken fingers
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) paprika
- Pinch each salt and pepper
- Maple syrup
DIRECTIONS
- Bake chicken fingers according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, in shallow baking dish, whisk together milk, eggs, paprika, salt and pepper. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating completely and allowing excess liquid to drip back into dish.
- Press in waffle maker for 3 to 5 minutes or until bread is golden brown and marked. Top waffles with chicken fingers and drizzle with maple syrup.
