INGREDIENTS
- 1 pack Dempster’s® Signature Pull-Aparts Brioche Style Rolls
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 3/4 teaspoon (4ml) salt, divided
- 500g lean ground beef
- 8 slices of old cheddar
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) everything bagel seasoning
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook peppers and onions until tender crisp, about 5
- minutes. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Preheat the BBQ or grill pan to medium-high heat. Mix ground beef with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt. On a piece of parchment paper, pat the ground beef into an 8-inch by 10-inch rectangle. Using parchment paper for support, carefully place a large beef patty on the grill, meat side down. Remove and discard parchment.
- Cook until edges are no longer pink, 2 to 3 minutes. Using 2 spatulas, carefully flip the patty and continue cooking until no pink remains, about 3 minutes.
- Without separating, halve the buns horizontally through the middle. Place on prepared baking sheet.
- Remove the top layer and cover the bottom with 4 of the cheese slices. Place the cooked beef patty on top. Evenly layer with sautéed peppers and onions, and top with remaining slices of cheese. Place the top layer of buns on top and lightly press down all over to slightly flatten. Brush tops with egg white. Reserve the remaining egg for another use. Sprinkle bun tops with bagel seasoning. Bake until tops are lightly toasted and cheese is melted, 5 to 7 minutes. To serve, cut into individual sliders.
