INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices Dempster's® 100% Whole Grains 12 Grain Bread
  • 4 slices aged Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) butter
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) ketchup

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place 2 cheese slices on each of 2 bread slices. Cap with remaining bread. Butter outside bread slices of each sandwich.
  2. Preheat large skillet over medium-low heat; cook sandwiches for 2 or 3 minutes per side or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  3. Meanwhile, spoon ketchup into small resealable plastic bag; snip corner. Set aside.
  4. Using 3 1/2-inch (9 cm) round cookie cutters, cut out 1 round from each sandwich to resemble doughnuts. Using 1-inch (2.5 cm) round cookie cutter, cut hole in centre of each "doughnut." Drizzle ketchup over top. Reserve scraps for another use.

Tip: Serve remaining scraps as cook's treat or serve with soup or salad as croutons.
